Haydn Porteous from Central Gauteng wins Coastal NOOM
The final day of the NOMADS Coastal National Order of Merit took place today at a hot and windless Somerset West Golf Club. The overnight leader Haydn Porteous from Central Gauteng Golf Union left the field floundering with a scintillating final round of 65
. His round consisted of 7 birdies, which amongst others included birdies at all 4 par 5’s. His three round total of 203 (68, 70 & 65) was 13 under par.
In 2nd place was 14 year old Tristen Strydom on 5 under after a final round of 70. His round comprised an eagle 3 at the par 5 1st, 3 birdies and 3 dropped shots. 15 year old Thriston Lawrence finished in 3rd place on 3 under par after a final round of level par 72.
Making up the top 5 were Christiaan Bezuidenhout after rounds of 73, 73 and 68 (214) and Ian Snyman, who compiled rounds of 70, 75 and 70. Last year’s winner, Zander Lombard, finished in a tie for 10th place after starting disappointingly with a 79 but recovered well to record rounds of 72 and 69 in the final two rounds.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the hole-in-one recorded yesterday by Robert Bougas at the par 3 9th.
