Jock Wellington wins CGGU Senior Open and Closed
Kyalami based golfer, Jock Wellington, was successful in his defence of both the CGGU Senior Open and the CGGU Senior Closed titles.
The tournament was played at Randfontein Country Club with the first round on Saturday afternoon and the second round taking place on Sunday morning.
After an impressive first round of 69, Jock egded one ahead of Gauteng North player Phillip Bierman with a further 5 players chasing on level par.
Jock managed to hold on with a two over par score of 74 for the second round to maintain his position at the top as the other players were unable to make the move to catch him. Jock’s total score of 143 was the only score under par for the tournament with the following players four shots back in tied 2nd position, Lawrence Franklin, Gavin van Aswegen, Schalk Naude and Phillip Bierman.
